Chemex
(recommended ratio of 1:15)
An iconic brewer with a timeless design invented in 1941, the Chemex is easy to use and easy on the eyes. A simple slow dripping method that uses a medium-coarse grind, it brews a clean cup and maintains body and balanced floral notes.
Advantages:
- Produces good coffee almost by itself and offers a stronger brew than a regular filter.
Disadvantages:
- Very sensitive to the amount of water added to the filter
Preparation steps:
1. Ground the fresh beans on a medium gradient (BLACKCoffee recommends Guatemala Huehuetenango beans or The 75th Anniversary Blend) | 2. Pour in 24g of coffee grounds into the folded paper filter or the special Chemex filter. |
3. Pour water slowly and distribute it well to allow it to channel through the grounds. | 4. Carefully watch over the amount of water added. |
5. Served in a mug or a ceramic mug |
